We are excited to begin our “Community Moxa” Project at the Northey Street Organic Market, starting in April and continuing on every 4th Sunday of the month.

The idea of community moxa or acupuncture is quite common in East Asian countries such as Japan and China, although it may not yet be widely known in Australia. Traditionally, practitioners of East Asian medicine -Buddhist monks traditionally in Japan- see supporting the health of their local community as an important part of their role. This often includes offering preventative care and free or low-cost treatments, particularly for people who may not otherwise be able to access these services.

Treatments are offered in a shared, relaxed space where people can rest, connect and enjoy a sense of community.

As many people have been experiencing increased stress in recent years, we hope this project can provide a simple opportunity for people to pause, relax and care for their wellbeing.

We will be offering 30-minute whole-body treatments for $20 ($10 for concessions), making the sessions accessible to the wider community. Treatments will be provided by our newly trained Moxa practitioners under our supervision.
